We know that here in southwest Florida we have some of the best beaches in the United States, which is why they draw travelers worldwide.

Today, August 30th, is National Beach Day, which began in 2014 to raise awareness of the beauty of beaches and to make them clean and safe.

Here are some beaches where you can enjoy summer dog days.

Barefoot Beach Reserve

A popular beach for those looking for a view of the wildlife in addition to the sun, sand, and surf. It has more than 340 acres of pristine habitat and can be found at 505 Barefoot Beach Blvd., Naples. Parking is $ 8 without a permit. collierparks.com/collier_park/barefoot-beach-preserve/#preserve

Blind pass beach

Another great shell beach that is hidden and secluded. Not a great beach to walk around unless you want to exercise as the parts are sloping. At 6491 Sanibel Captiva Road, the beach is just before the bridge connecting the islands of Sanibel and Captiva on the left (heading north). Blink and you will miss it. Bonita Beach

A popular beach at 27954 Hickory Blvd., Bonita Springs, with a usually crowded parking lot and the nearby Doc’s Beachhouse serving drinks and food. Not a bad way to spend a morning or afternoon. Parking is $ 2 an hour. leegov.com/parks/beaches/bonitabeach

Bowman’s Beach

Tiger Tail Beach

Tigertail Beach is certainly one of the more unique beaches by name and geographically in southwest Florida, nestling against the coast of Marco Island. Behind the beach at 480 Hernando Drive is a shallow lagoon, both of which make great places for bird watching and sunbathing. Turner Beach
