Rapper / singer Dominic Fike is aiming for a “second career”: acting.

The Los Angeles-born native of Naples was cast in the second season of the HBO hit series “Euphoria”. He is in the process of filming the show.

Fike, 25, recently confirmed the news in an interview with Variety magazine. He was unavailable for further interviews this week, according to publicist Bradley Bledsoe.

Fike described his role as a “homie” and “degenerate” hanging out with characters Rue and Jules, played by Zendaya and Hunter Schäfer. Further details were not released, including the name of the character and the scope of Fike’s role in the drama.

Fike said the character reminded him of a younger version of himself.

“I don’t have to act a lot,” he told Variety. “He’s just like me. It’s sh– I would say and sh– I would do. “

Fike said he didn’t consider himself an actor until he was cast on the show. But he’s been to several other auditions since then.

“It’s become a second career,” he said. “Now I don’t have to do TikTok, that’s how I see it.”

Fike also spoke about his recent sobriety and how it has fueled his creativity. “I’m in full swing,” he said. “I feel like I can work forever and do anything.”

He said he was busy working on the sequel to his debut album, the critically acclaimed “What Could Possably Go Wrong” from 2020. He said there will be more rap and not be as overproduced.

“I felt like I had too many producers in the room and too many people telling me what was right and what was wrong,” he said of “what could possibly go wrong”. “Now it’s just my mind, much like I did (the hit EP) ‘Don’t Forget About Me, Demos’.

“There weren’t any other people in the room who could say something to me, and I don’t send this music to other people to give me … opinions about it.”

The “Euphoria” gig comes after a busy year for Fike. He appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden in May. He has also performed in collaborations with Halsey, Slowthai, Remi Wolf and Paul McCartney.

U.S. House GOP would make it easier for feds to give public lands away to states

U.S. House Republicans included in the new rules for the chamber they passed this month a provision meant to make it easier for Congress to give away public lands. The provision is a fairly technical piece of the 55-page  rules package . It affects internal House accounting and requires that anytime Congress were to give any federal lands to a state, municipality or tribe, it would not be counted as a loss to the federal budget. House Republicans had an identical rule when they controlled the chamber from 2017 to 2019. Democratic governors press U.S. Senate to act on voting rights legislation

WASHINGTON — Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and 16 other Democratic governors are urging the U.S. Senate to pass two bills that aim to protect voting rights. Both measures need 60 votes to advance under Senate rules but have been stalled by Republican opposition in the evenly divided Senate. “Without decisive action by the federal government this year to protect voters’ access to the ballot and ensure the integrity and transparency of our elections, the voices of Americans across the country, especially Americans of color, will be suppressed,” the governors wrote in a Monday  letter  to U.S. Senate leadership.
