Mother of four, one of the victims of the horrific Miami Gardens crash, says Auntie

MIAMI GARDENS, Florida. – All that remains of a terrible accident at the weekend are debris from cars scattered around the world, a tree stump and a few flowers as a memorial.

The fatal crash in Miami Gardens occurred early Saturday morning. Neighbors said they were jerked out of their beds by the sound of the impact. The aunt of one of those who died at the scene said the 42-year-old woman was a mother of four and had “big dreams”.

When rescue workers arrived in the area of Northwest 183rd Street and 38th Court at around 2 a.m., they found an overturned pickup truck and several other wrecked cars.

Miami Gardens police said 2 people were killed instantly and 5 others who were seriously injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

A dispatcher told those who responded to the scene that “several bodies were thrown from a vehicle”.

How the crash came about is still unclear.

Witness Charlie Eason said he slept and heard what sounded like a “big bam”.

Eason lives right in front of the accident site. He said when he opened his garage he saw a person lying at the gate.

The person was identified by family members as Taiice Davis, 42. Her aunt, Shazz Browne Mendez, told Local 10 News’ Ian Margol that she is leaving 4 children.

“She was ‘super mom’. She was loving, she was funny, very caring, ”said Mendez. “I think right now we’re still numb to thinking it didn’t happen. We hope it didn’t happen as if we could wake up and say, ‘Okay, it was a bad dream,’ said Mendez, adding that Davis had ‘big dreams and big goals’.

Mendez was there for information, she told Local 10 News. “We know absolutely nothing. That’s why I’m out here trying to find out, ‘OK, what happened?’ “

Davis and one other person died at the scene of the accident.

Eason said it was something he won’t soon forget. “I was petrified. I really, really didn’t know what to do. I’ve been here since 1970 when I was a little kid because this was my father’s house and I’ve never seen anything like it in my life”, said Eason.
