Münster and Era picked up where they left off on Wednesday when the Holiday Classic girls’ basketball tournament resumed in Lindsay.

The two Lady Hornets teams won victories and made a matchup between the two of them for the gold bracket championship on Thursday evening in Callisburg.

Other Wednesday games make Thursday matches between Gainesville and Lindsay, Callisburg and Sacred Heart, and Valley View and Life Oak Cliff.

Pampas 42, Sacred Heart 24

The Tigerettes reached the bronze class after falling against Pampas. The Lady Harvesters made a habit of forcing rallies and dots in transition to help them withdraw. Cold gunfire prevented Sacred Heart from keeping up. Pampa won Pool B with the win.

Emily Flusche, a senior at Sacred Heart, led the Tigerettes with 15 points, all from the 3-point line.

Van Alstyne JV 37, Callisburg 18

Callisburg lost their second game of the tournament to Van Alstyne in a game the Lady Cats never led. Callisburg leveled 4 in the first quarter after both teams started slowly offensive, but Van Alstyne took the lead back and led the rest of the game. The Lady Panthers linked on six 3-pointers and helped them break free.

Callisburg Junior Abby Pollard led the Lady Cats with 9 points.

Howe 46, valley view 26

Valley View fell into the bronze class after losing to Howe. The Lady Eagles narrowly held it in the first half but were held to 9 points in the second. Howe scored 16 in the third and 8 in the fourth, turning a close game into a 20 point win when the Lady Bulldogs won Pool D.

Valley View Senior Andee Renfro led the Lady Eagles with 8 points. Second Landri Elvington scored 7.

Munster 51, Pampa 25

Münster fought for its place in the gold bracket championship with a dominant second half against Pampa. After a strong second quarter, the Lady Hornets led the Lady Harvesters by 18:14 at halftime, but after the break everything was Münster. The Lady Hornets scored seven threes in the second half to turn a close game into a one-sided win.

Münster senior Martie McCoy led all scorers with 18 points, followed by the second Brooke Tyler with 15.

Pilot Point 41, Lindsay 37

Lindsay dropped a heartbreaker into the silver bracket. The Lady Knights took the lead in the first quarter and led most of the time, but Pilot Point took the lead back from the free-throw line at 1:30 before the game. The Lady Cats beat Lindsay 14: 5 in the fourth quarter. Lindsay had a late chance at a game-determining 3-pointer, but could not establish a connection.

Lindsay’s sophomore year Mia Hunt led the Lady Knights with 11 points.

Life Oak Cliff 35, Sacred Heart 24

Sacred Heart fell in bronze bracket action against Life Oak Cliff. Cold shooting brought the Tigerettes to doom again. Life Oak Cliff led 10-4 after the first quarter and Sacred Heart failed to score enough goals to catch up.

Sacred Heart Junior Anna Becker led the Tigerettes with 14 points.

He was 55, Howe was 30

Era advanced to the gold championship after a dominant win over Howe. The Lady Hornets took the lead on 17-4 after the first quarter and never looked back. Era’s best quarter was the third, beating Howe 22-8.

Era senior Kiara Franklin led all scorers with 27 points, followed by Kate Krebs in the second year with 14.

Van Alstyne JV 55, Gainesville 42

The Lady Leopards fell in silver bracket action and will play for third place on the bracket on Thursday. Gainesville led 13-9 after the first quarter, but the Lady Panthers outnumbered the Lady Leopards by 20-8 in the second quarter. Van Alstyne slowly but steadily extended his lead in the second half.

Landrie Polk, newcomer from Gainesville, led the Lady Leopards with 28 points.

Talblick 34, Callisburg 27

Valley View ended the second day with an exciting comeback win against Callisburg. The Lady Cats were leading 17-12 at halftime, but the Lady Eagles outnumbered them by 14-4 in the third and took the lead. Callisburg were only 2 points behind in their fourth game, but Valley View did enough to claim their second win against the Lady Cats this season.

Valley View student Landri Elvington led the way with 11 points. Junior Ashlyn Wandell and freshman Laura Hernandez each scored 8 for Callisburg.
