The Tampa Bay Buccaneers retool for perhaps one last big run in this 7-round mock draft.

The defending Super Bowl champions will not return to the NFL’s biggest stage. In fact, they don’t even get a chance to play for that opportunity as they are eliminated by the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. Now the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are eyeing the 2022 NFL Draft along with 27 other teams in the league.

This upcoming offseason will be incredibly important for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They’ve benefited over the last two seasons as veterans took pay cuts to play with Tom Brady for a ring shot. This could go on, but there’s no guarantee Brady will be back on the field next year. Additionally, the Bucs may lose many key plays.

The list of upcoming free agents for the Buccaneers is long. On the offensive side, it includes almost the entire running back room, two starting offensive lineman and Chris Godwin. On the defensive side, Ndamukong Suh, William Gholston and Jason Pierre-Paul are all ready to go free at the secondary level along with Carlton Davis and Jordan Whitehead.

Even with Brady returning, this Tampa Bay team will surely look different next season around him. Whether it’s cheap veterans or a slew of youngsters, the Bucs’ front office needs to get creative this offseason, and that starts with the 2022 NFL Draft.

Before we dive into the selection, a basic tidbit. I’m going into this with the thought that Brady is actually coming back. He turns 45 in August and has hinted for a while that his goal is to play by the age of 45. It’s also hard to see him going without at least one championship round appearance if he can avoid it. With the return of Brady and Kyle Trask from the second round of the 2021 NFL draft, a quarterback isn’t required in this class, which is a short pick anyway.
