Suspect arrested in Orlando murder cases

A suspect has been arrested in a murder case in Orlando.

Orlando police have arrested a man accused of killing his roommate.

Scott Sanders, 50, faces a charge of first-degree murder in the death of James Newlyn Trent, 60.

Police responded to the Henly Park Apartments on Curry Ford Road for a well-being check on Thursday night after receiving a call from a woman who had reported Trent missing. When they arrived, they found a deceased man inside, later identified as Trent.

In an arrest report, investigators said Sanders told them was mad at the victim and “thought about killing the victim because he was clicking a lighter.” The victim clicked the lighter again and Sanders told investigators that he “‘snapped’ and killed the victim.”

Sanders is being held in the Orange County Jail.
