Lyman Lemack’s Obituary (1956 – 2022)

Orlando Chavez Obituary (2022) - Santa Cruz, CA

Mr. Lyman Douglas Lemacks, known to family and friends as Doug, abruptly left our physical world on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 3:28 am due to heart issues. Doug was 66 years young, born in Quincy, Florida on September 18, 1956.

Doug’s first marriage to Crystal Denise Taylor in 1981 brought new life to this world with two sons, Stephen Taylor Lemacks, now 40, and Robert Douglas Lemacks, now 38. Doug has two grandchildren by his eldest son (Taylor and his wife Jennifer), Aiden Joseph Lemacks (9) and Abriella Mae Lemacks (3), whom he immensely adored. Doug embraced his grandparent status in life and spoiled his grandchildren with the finest toys and clothes for birthdays and holidays.

Doug worked as one of the best surveyors in the Big Bend area and, some argue, in the state of Florida. He was employed at Sandco for much of his surveying career, until he decided to work for himself in the last few years. When he wasn’t working, he loved to fish Lake Talquin and play the bass solo or in a band, and was an avid Florida State football fan.

In addition to being survived by his two sons and grandchildren (mentioned above), Doug is also survived by his younger brother, Thomas “Tommy” Lemacks, his niece (Tommy’s daughter), Brooke Lemacks, his half sister, Angela Clayden, and his wife of five years, Diane Eyles. He alsoleaves behindmany lifelong friends and bandmates.Doug is preceded in death by his mother, among the most spirited of women, Jane Porter Lemacks, who most of us knew as “Grannie.” He was also preceded in death by his father, Charles Bruce Lemacks, and older brother Charles Bruce Lemacks Jr.

Doug, the best of you will live on in our hearts and our memories. We are grateful for the time that we had your love in our lives.

The family will be celebrating Doug’s life privately at a later date. Tommy and Jennifer are helping with family arrangements. For more information, please contact 850-556-4142 or 850-556-4377.
